statement
My work is inspired by the space around us. I am currently involved in exploration of the uncanny psychological states evoked by expanded form and space. These forms, which include shiny cast plaster bulges and inflated/stuffed vinyl bumpers and shapes, are by turns protective and menacing; each acting as an ambivalent and independent presence. Plastic inflates and envelops, plaster bulges and shines, and everything swells with life. The pieces invite a visceral, physical relationship, daring the viewer to touch and even domesticate them. The bulges in particular tantalize with their glossy tactility, yet also seem to strain threateningly, always ready to plump beyond overfull.
